SFBMWcoding is now proud to offer BMW bench services which seeks to reduce costs for automotive repair shops and individuals alike. Used aftermarket offerings from ebay, pick-and-pull self-service venues, and other aftermarket channels provide extremely cost effective alternatives for repairing/replacing faulty modules in a BMW.  Provided the used modules are prepared properly for retrofit, this option can save many hundreds of dollars off cost compared to purchasing new.

Original DME/DDE cloning or Used DME/DDE syncing to vehicle

SFBMWcoding offers DME or DDE cloning services in the event that your DME or DDE becomes inoperable. In most cases, the data can be recovered from the faulty DME as the flash data may still be accessible despite another component failure. All that needs to be done is have the faulty DME/DDE sent to us and we send you back a working replacement!

EWS reset for the 8HP EGS transmission (F series)

Have you replaced your 8HP transmission (or mechatronics) and the car is stuck in P? It may not be a problem with the transmission, mechatronics, or coding, but rather, a mismatch of the vehicle EWS or immobilizer system. Starting with BMW E70 8HP transmissions, the CAS4 EWS synchronization has been extended to the 8HP EGS.

It is no longer as easy to replace a transmission with a used but known working good unit without resetting the EWS on the 8HP EGS. We offer resetting the EGS mechatronics unit which will allow the transmission to synchronize with the CAS/FEM and DME modules. You will need to ship the CAS4/FEM_Body, key fob, and EGS mechatronics module for us to synchronize them across the modules. After the EWS reset, the transmission will be able to shift normally.

ISN / SK (secret key) editing for DME/DDE or CAS/FEM_Body/BDC_Body modules

In F and G series BMWs, EWS4 has complicated matters in a way where replacing simple modules like the DME, CAS, FEM_BODY, and EGS is no longer that. If one decides to purchase a used module and replace the faulty one in their vehicle, the module will fail to handshake with the EWS immobilizer system and fail to function. However, with our bench services, we can read, edit, and replace any ISN or Secret Key on a used module to match and sync with your existing modules thus reducing costs.

Used Cluster Virginizing

One cannot just purchase a used BMW cluster and install it without virginizing its VIN and mileage. A new cluster that is installed into a BMW will write the vehicle VIN and mileage into its memory and lock it from further rewrites. This eliminates tampering with mileage and other liability issues. However, the cost of a new cluster is extremely costly. Used clusters are much more affordable, and with our used cluster virginization procedure, the used cluster will behave like a new cluster and accept the vehicles VIN and mileage automatically after installation.

If you do not virginize a used cluster, the BMW cluster will display a tamper dot, will not take additional coding, and will generally show error messages for options not included in the vehicle. We also offer remote programming of the cluster to your vehicle configuration after you install the unit into your vehicle (additional fee)!

FRM3 repair services

BMW has a recall for FRM modules which can be a lifesaver for those who have jumped their vehicle and accidentally short-circuited their FRM module.  This warranty covers the vehicle for 8 years and/or 125,000 miles. However if you are outside of the warranty window, you will need to pay for a new FRM. Symptoms of a defective FRM module include not being able to actuate the front driver and passenger windows and other various lighting malfunction error messages.

This cost saving service allows you to repair your original FRM3 module without any additional coding necessary as opposed to purchasing a used FRM3 module. One just needs to reinstall it and the problems which were happening in the past will be gone. If you purchase a used FRM, you will need to add the cost of recoding the module with the vehicles VIN and settings which will push the cost for a full replacement to about $300.

BMW makes it hard to source used aftermarket parts and install them in a cost effective manner for smaller independent shops. Utilizing our bench services, we can lower the cost or repair services which you perform for your customers to help increase customer volume. Take for example our 8HP transmission EWS reset service – A used GA8HP45 transmission can be purchased for $500-$1000 dollars as compared to a brand new transmission which sells for around $4000. Add the 8HP EGS EWS reset service for $500 and the total hardware cost is still many times lower than a new replacement. This cost savings can then be passed onto the customer.
